New Business Information Service Aims To Help Companies Leverage Market Information
Smaller companies can now take advantage of EBIS to make more informed decisions.
EnterpriseOne Business Information Services ( EBIS ) is a multi-agency initiative to help enterprises in Singapore become knowledgeable, innovative and information-savvy to compete effectively in the global marketplace.
EBIS is one of key pillars of EnterpriseOne's "Many agencies, one network" initiative to provide a one-stop centre to serve the needs of enterprises. EBIS will complement the Enterprise Development Centre by providing market information and industry updates.
Driven by Singapore Business Federation, in partnership with SPRING Singapore, National Library Board Singapore and International Enterprise Singapore; EBIS taps on the strengths of four partners to provide enterprises access to trusted business information and equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills to access the information.

The initiative was launched in 2 Aug 07 by Minister of State, Mr Lee Yi Shyan at National Library building.
The event started with SBF Chairman Mr Stephen Lee addressing the audience. Mr Lee highlighted the 2 separate survey findings conducted by SBF and NLB in late 2005 on the needs of Singapore enterprises, especially the SMEs. These survey findings indicated that SMEs are at a disadvantage compared to larger organizations to stay competitive. EBIS program was initiated as a useful platform for enterprises, particularly the smaller enterprises, to compete on a more level playing field with the big boys in regard to access to market information.
“For companies that aspire to thrive and prosper in a globalised economy, it is imperative that their decision making is guided by timely and accurate business information and market intelligence. EBIS will enable companies to overcome the information gap and help them compete effectively in local and international markets,” said SBF Chairman Stephen Lee.
Minister Lee shared his visions on the changing business model and the needs for Singapore enterprises to keep abreast of the latest development and monitor changing trends and to keep tab on the competition in the local and global market. He also shared that Singapore enterprises will need to know how to leverage on the key market intelligence to stay competitive and tap new business opportunities. He shared that he recognized the difficulties for enterprises to identify the right market research solution and officially announced the launch of EBIS to meet the needs of Singapore based enterprises.
