Programme Introduction

China is among the world's fastest-growing economies. According to experts, the country's real gross domestic product (GDP) has grown at an average annual rate of over 9.7% since 1979. Trade and foreign investment contribute significantly to China 's booming economy. China 's economic expansion has brought about favorable investment conditions and great opportunities for global entrepreneurs and investors.

The president of China delivered his policy speech at the Communist Party Congress in Beijing in Oct 2007. President Hu Jintao reiterated his goal of moving Chinese manufacturers away from simply assembling products and toward designing and turning out high-technology goods. The speech demonstrated China 's strong determination in moving up the global value chain. The move will shake up the supply chain landscape that is made up of companies mostly in its Asian neighbourhood countries. Companies seeking to profit from the new opportunities being created by China 's evolving role in the global value chain will need to respond to these developments proactively and efficiently.

In this seminar, our speakers will share with the participants further details on the business environment, opportunities and risks of the global economy shift in China.
