Programme Introduction

The media market is undergoing massive changes with the convergence of telecommunications, media and Information Technology and is moving towards multimedia (integrated digital content) applications and multi-modal services. The interactive and digital media industry is growing at a rapid pace with a growth rate higher than the average industry growth. Governments worldwide are developing a skilled workforce and engaging citizens to take advantage of the economic growth in the industry. Singapore topped the global competitiveness report rankings for new media infrastructure. It aims to be a global media city with the Interactive Digital Media (IDM) sector as a key driver. In July 2006, the government announced the allocation of S$500 million over the next five years to fund Research and Development in IDM.

This seminar will provide a deeper understanding of the emerging global and regional digital media markets, the Singapore situation and government support initiatives, digital media talent development in Singapore and insights for SMEs venturing into the new media industry. It will also show SMEs how they can benefit by participating in this industry and what they can do to access this market
